Sometimes it is fun to make an easy appetizer and it’s more fun if everyone loves it. Here is one that only takes three ingredients. Two, if you don’t count the crackers. Only drawback is that this is not really ‘pretty’.

Basil-Pesto-Cream-Cheese-Spread-IngredientsYou can use regular cream cheese or the reduced fat one if you like. Spread a few tablespoons of the pesto on top of the block of cream cheese. You do have to open the box and remove the wrapper.

Bake at 350 for twenty minutes until it is warm and bubbly. To make it a little more attractive, chop up a tomato and sprinkle that on top just before serving.Basil-Pesto-Cream-Cheese-Spread-instructionsIf you use a pretty oven proof dish, that’s it. Otherwise transfer to a pretty plate. Voila!

Now here is one that is very elegant. Take a jar of caviar, the black or red variety that is around $12 for a jar. Spread all over a block of cream cheese. Serve.

There are lots of great crackers out there. Costco has a huge variety pack that is good to have on hand.
