I have never made homemade strawberry (or any other kind) of jam before today. I got inspired by a very simple recipe that calls for only three ingredients and there is NO sugar.

Four cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and halved. Three tart Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped, one 12 ounce can of frozen Welches grape juice.

This makes two large mason jars of strawberry jam. So if you are making this for friends, you better have a large stainless steel pot and triple the recipe.

In a deep stainless steel pot put the fruit and juice. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Mash fruit with a potato masher and cook and stir for 25 minutes, until it is in the ‘gel’ stage.

Ladle the jam into sterilized jars to within 1/4 inch of the top. Put on top, then lid, then screw lid on tightly.

Put jars in a large deep pot and cover with water to over a inch over the top. This is called a water bath. Cover and boil for ten minutes. Remove cover and let cool in water.

Then remove jars and enjoy.
